Working with the Tesla Cybertruck
With customers taking delivery of their new futuristic, stainless steel-covered Cybertruck from Tesla, automotive detail shops around the world will inevitably start filling up their schedules with wraps, tint jobs, and more. Today we’d like to talk about what we’ve experienced so far with working on the Cybertruck. We’ve had the pleasure of working on three different Cybertrucks to date. From ceramic coating, to window tinting, to a full color change wrap, let’s talk about each one of those processes.
Ceramic Coating
Our first customer wanted to protect the original stainless steel finish and coat it with something to help make it easier to remove fingerprints and bugs. The perfect option for this is ceramic coating. We did a test area for the customer and let him try it out for a few days. He liked the results and returned to cover the whole truck. Due to the texture and finish of the stainless steel panels, we opted to apply it by spray.
Window Tinting
Our second Cybertruck customer wanted window tint on the two fronts and front windshield. The two front side windows were simple and straightforward. Our biggest challenge to overcome was the front windshield. It’s now considered the world's largest automotive front windshield (according to Autoglass) coming in at approx. 71” long and 69” wide! This challenge was quickly accepted by our Grandmaster Window Tinter, Brandon! Check out the photos for behind the scenes action! It’s definitely a two person job at minimum!
Full Color-Change Wrap
With the third Cybertruck, our customer wanted a full color-change PPF wrap and window tint on the two fronts and front windshield. Colored PPF technology is on the rise and we’re seeing some great products out there. For this job, we went with Pure PPF’s Satin Black PPF. With colored PPF you get all the protection from PPF AND the option to look good in the color of your choice. Pure PPF currently offers over 50 different colors to choose from. Our main PPF and Vinyl installer, Triston, handled the wrapping operations on this one. Check out the photos for the results!
